Hello Life Lovers! Valentine's Day is tomorrow and many people are still out on the hunt for the perfect gift. This year, why not stand out from the crowd. These gifts cost little to no money and can be made in very little time.

Love Letters/ Homemade Cards

Hallmark has produced some very nice Valentine’s Day cards over the years, but none of them are tailored to any one specific relationship. They were written by a writer that you’ll probably never meet even if they were credited for their work. A hand written letter allows even the most bashful of us to express how we feel. You can be poetic or straightforward in your own wording and there’s really no limits to how much you can say. Describe the things that attract you to them and reassure them of why you care. If you have an artistic flair, take it a step further and add that to the letter/ card as well.

Spa Treatment/ Massage Session

This one is pretty straightforward. Everyone has stressors in their life and a therapeutic pampering is an excellent way to mitigate that stress. Many of these facilities do couples sessions, and have discount packaging. If you happen to live near a school that teaches massage therapy, you can actually book an appointment with one of their soon-to-be graduates at a discounted rate. You could also provide the pampering personally by buying a spa kit from a beauty supply store and spoil your Valentine with your own two hands.

Homemade Bath Products

This requires a little bit of time and patience. Homemade bath products are continually rising in popularity these days. Rather than just tell you ABOUT them though, Here are instructions on how to make two of the most popular ones.

Homemade Soap

Things You'll Need

  • 2 pounds of melt-and-pour soap

  • Crockpot

  • Spoon

  • Measuring cups and spoons

  • Premixed cosmetic grade coloring

  • 1 ounce of essential oil, perfume or fragrance oil

  • 1/4 cup of any additive you prefer such as fine clay, flower petals or ground oats

  • Soap molds

Step 1

Cut the block of soap in 1-inch cubes. Heat the crockpot on low and add the soap. Allow the soap to melt completely.

Step 2

Stir the soap to make sure that it is melted completely. Add coloring one drop at a time while continuing to stir until well combined.

Step 3

Add the essential oil or fragrance and stir to combine.

Step 4

Add any additives that you wish to incorporate, such as fine clay or ground oatmeal to make a soothing, exfoliating soap. Stir until the additive is evenly distributed throughout the soap.

Step 5

Pour the mixture into soap molds and allow it to set for 24 hours. Plastic molds are good but for easy removal, my wife prefers to use silicone molds.

Step 6

Remove the soap from the molds and allow it to air dry. If you happened to use a box for your mold, cut the soap into bars using a soap knife. Wrap the bars in plastic wrap once the surface is completely dry and store in a dry area as you would any soap.

Homemade Shave Butter

Things You'll Need

  • 2/3 c. Shea Butter

  • 2/3 c. Coconut Oil

  • 1/4 c. Olive oil

  • 10-15 drops Essential Oils

Step 1

Melt the Coconut oil and Shea butter together in a saucepan.

Step 2

Remove from heat and add in the Olive oil and whatever essential oils you chose.

Step 3

Cool for several hours. Once it is solid, whisk for several minutes to give it a lotion like consistency.

The Couples Coupon book

You’ve probably seen this one in a movie or a TV show. For those of you that aren’t familiar, Couples Coupons are basically IOU’s that you give your sweetheart that allow them to ask for anything you can think up like chores, date nights and even sexual favors. The key to this one is to put things in the book that THEY like and be willing to do them whenever they ask. Here’s a template that you can print out and use.

DIY crafts

Handmade gifts can be just about anything and even if you don’t have the aptitude for craft making, there are kits to get you started. Wristbands, bracelets, necklaces and hairbands are all easily crafted in with supplies you can get at just about any craft store and most of the employees have experience in crafting handmade gifts. Charm bracelets are by far the easiest to construct and offer hundreds of customization options as well.

You could put all 5 of these gifts together by the end of the night. The important thing to remember with all of these gifts is that you put thought into them. Show your sweetheart just how much they mean to you. For more heartfelt gift ideas in the future, be sure to Subscribe to Yagoli.com.
